On Thursday, 5/18/2023, the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Alia Karim Abdel Hassan, held a meeting in the discussion room in the building of the Department of Computer Science with the Director and members of the Laboratory Division, in the presence of the scientific assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Noha Jamil Ibrahim, and the Director of the Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division, teacher Taiba Walaa Al-Din Khairy and Director of the Laboratories Division, Assistant Lecturer Atheer Rahim, the Laboratory Audit Committee and laboratory officials, at the beginning of the meeting, welcomed the head of the department to attend and expressed her thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the laboratory staff.

The Head of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Alia Karim Abdel Hassan, participated in the celebration of the International Day of Communication and the Information Society, which was held by the National Security Advisor, Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, in cooperation with the Communications and Media Authority, on Wednesday 17/5/2023 in the hall of Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Communications, Dr. Hiyam Al-Yasiri and gentlemen heads of departments in universities with specialization.
Where the world celebrates on the seventeenth of May of each year the International Day of Communication and the Information Society to help raise awareness of the importance of communication and information technology in human life. The conference aims to enhance opportunities in the field of digital technology for all people to help bridge the digital divide and contribute to achieving the agreed development goals Internationally, and raise awareness of what the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies can achieve for countries and states.

Participation of the Computer Science Department team in the University of Technology football tennis championship and winning the second place
The Computer Science Department team participated in the Technological University Football Tennis Tournament that was held on the university’s playgrounds for the period from (10-11 May) and under the supervision of the team coach, Mr. 1) In the final match, the Computer Science Department team lost to the Civil Engineering team (3-1). After that, cups were distributed to the winning teams, and the Computer Science Department ranked second.

Honoring distinguished female teachers and students from the Department of Computer Science at the annual celebration of International Girls' Day in the field of communications and information technology
Distinguished female teachers and students from the Department of Computer Science participated with the Department of Communications Engineering and under the supervision of the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the University of Technology, representing the university, where the number of participating female teachers reached 9 female teachers and 24 female students from both departments in the annual celebration of International Girls’ Day in the field of communications and information technology and participated in the high-level dialogue session level, which was organized by the Media and Communications Authority in cooperation with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to empower girls in the communications and information technology sector at the Babylon Hotel (Gilgamesh Hall) on Sunday 5/7/2023 in the presence of the Minister of Communications, Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri, and the President of the Media and Communications Authority, Dr. Faeq Nader, member of the Board of Commissioners, Dr. Hussein Flamers, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Director of the Leadership Initiative.
During the celebration, a presentation was made by the two companies, Atheer and Asiacell, regarding the way the two companies work, the achievements and the positions they have reached. A presentation by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding girls' statistics, and a presentation by the Women's Empowerment Section in the Media and Communications Authority.
In conclusion, shields and gifts were distributed to the participants in the celebration.
Where Professor Dr. Shaima Hamid Shaker, Director of Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division, Teacher Nada Najil, Director of Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division, Teacher Taiba Walaa El Din Khairy, and Director of the Media and Government Communication Unit Raghad Kamel Hamoudi were honored.
