Distinguished female teachers and students from the Department of Computer Science participated with the Department of Communications Engineering and under the supervision of the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the University of Technology, representing the university, where the number of participating female teachers reached 9 female teachers and 24 female students from both departments in the annual celebration of International Girls’ Day in the field of communications and information technology and participated in the high-level dialogue session level, which was organized by the Media and Communications Authority in cooperation with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to empower girls in the communications and information technology sector at the Babylon Hotel (Gilgamesh Hall) on Sunday 5/7/2023 in the presence of the Minister of Communications, Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri, and the President of the Media and Communications Authority, Dr. Faeq Nader, member of the Board of Commissioners, Dr. Hussein Flamers, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Director of the Leadership Initiative. During the celebration, a presentation was made by the two companies, Atheer and Asiacell, regarding the way the two companies work, the achievements and the positions they have reached. A presentation by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding girls' statistics, and a presentation by the Women's Empowerment Section in the Media and Communications Authority. In conclusion, shields and gifts were distributed to the participants in the celebration. Where Professor Dr. Shaima Hamid Shaker, Director of Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division, Teacher Nada Najil, Director of Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division, Teacher Taiba Walaa El Din Khairy, and Director of the Media and Government Communication Unit Raghad Kamel Hamoudi were honored.
