- Today, Tuesday, 2024/1/30, in the Department of Computer Science, the first semester examinations for the first stage students of the academic year 2023-2024 began. The Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, conducted an inspection tour of the examination halls, during which he emphasized the importance of adhering to the instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to successfully complete the examination process and facilitate any obstacles for the students to provide a suitable environment for them. He also appreciated the efforts made by the examination committees in managing the conduct of the exam.

- Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, the Department of Computer Science held the comprehensive examination for PhD students (second trial) on Monday, 2024/1/29. The exam was conducted in accordance with the specific conditions and requirements of the comprehensive examination set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, preparing the students for the research phase. All students attended the three-hour examination, which was conducted amidst significant preparations by the department. Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, during his rounds in the examination halls, confirmed that the exam was carried out smoothly, adhering to the comprehensive examination's conditions and requirements. It is important to note that the final results will be announced after conducting the oral examination before the respective comprehensive examination committees for each student, scheduled for 2024/2/12.

- The Department of Computer Science has introduced a new logo for the department, inspired by the nature of the department and its specializations. The logo features two tall, parallel pillars, one orange and the other blue, ending in an open arch pointing towards the sky, symbolizing loftiness and inspiration. The year 1983 is included, marking the founding date of the department. The logo contains six units representing the six scientific branches in the Department of Computer Science: Software Engineering, Computer and Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Network Management, and Multimedia. These units represent the data specialization in the department, which focuses on using scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and ideas from data. In the top left of the logo, the text 'Computer Science, University of Technology' is represented in binary code (01). A group of small squares indicates the data input unit in computer devices. The geometric shape inside the logo refers to the automation of processes and data using programming and technology for automatic data analysis and processing, without manual intervention, in fields such as e-commerce, medicine, finance, and their management.
