There are many channels of verbal and non-verbal information that can be used to convey the emotional state to the robot, such as facial expressions, voice, spoken words, body gestures, and vital signs. In this thesis an automatic multimedia system for emotion recognition for HRI purposes is presented based on the visual and audio information extracted from facial expressions. Speech signal. Five main images were selected to work in the visual data and a new method for identifying facial emotions was proposed, based on graphic mining, which is a paradigm shift in the way the facial area is represented. In this thesis, a simple robot head was designed for interactive purpose.
