The Student Mohammed Rajeh Mohammed received his master's degree from the Department of Computer Sciences / Technology University for his thesis (Improved background subtraction in video surveillance). This thesis provides a video surveillance system with detection of moving objects. The system works on recorded video frames from a fixed camera. The system starts by implementing a non-linear algorithm to capture the video movie and split this video movie into several frames. Then, apply the training algorithm to manipulate those frames for initial background modeling using the enhanced k-mean algorithm. Next, the front-end detection algorithm was made by applying a threshold to the absolute difference value of the current image frame and background image. While the blind background maintenance approach was provided for background maintenance. This was on Thursday, February 22, 2018 and at the discussion hall in the department. The discussion committee was composed of Nidaa' Falieh Hassan and Dr. Hanaa' Mohsen Ahmed from the University of Technology / Department of Computer Sciences and Dr. Abdulwahab Sami Ibrahim from Al Mustansiriya University, College of Education, Department of Computer Science.
